How to Choose The Best Keywords for Your Article?
By using this method, you can significantly increase the number of people reading and viewing your content on your blog via search engines.

I have prepared this article by applying the same technique that I will explain to you in this article.
Please pay attention to the number of “keywords” that I have highlighted differently in some places and the positions where they are used throughout the story.
I share two of my stories that received 12K and 25K views on my Medium EN blog below as an example.

The reason why the stories above are read at these levels (12.4K and 24K) is the amount of traffic from search engines.
The above articles are written following the techniques I will explain in a moment.

In this article, I will first tell you how to choose the perfect keywords.
Once we have finished writing our story on Medium and submitted it for publication, we press the “Publish” button and see the following screen.

This is the wheelhouse where we will make the final checks and adjustments before submitting your story for publication and where we will write the keywords that are most compatible with our story to attract traffic from search engines.
Readers searching Medium or search engines will find your article or not through the five keywords you choose for your post.
Recently, I see that some of the stories that come to our “Become Better” Publication leave this field blank or only two or three keywords are written.
As Editor, I immediately add more and related keywords — topics before publishing it.
Believe me, if you knew the contribution of these keywords to the findability of your story, you would spend a lot of time choosing the five most appropriate keywords.
So how do we find suitable keywords for our articles?
First of all, I would like to talk about the importance of choosing the appropriate keywords for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and using them correctly in the article.
Here are some tips that will help you in this regard:
1. Keyword Selection:
Primary Keywords: Usually choose two primary keywords. These keywords should be chosen according to the main focus of your article.
Secondary Keywords: Add three keywords as a complementary variation of your first selected primary keywords. This technique makes the topic of your article clearer.
2. Keyword Density:
Aim to use one target keyword for every 100 words.
An SEO-friendly story should usually contain 500–1500 words.
Fit your keywords into the natural flow of your content
For example, I have unintentionally used “keywords” about twenty times in this article, even though I should normally use them much less.
Even though I didn’t do it consciously, it reached these numbers.
So I’m not going to make an effort to reduce it, but you should generally try to stick to the numbers I mentioned above.
3. Keyword Usage in the Text:
Title: Use your keyword in the title.
Subheadings: Include your keywords in subheadings as well.
In Text: Use your keywords in your content from the beginning to the end of the post.
First and Last 50 Words: Place your keywords in the first and last 50 words of your post.
Integrity: Don’t use keywords in ridiculous places that will annoy the user. You should use it in a sentence in a way that does not disrupt the meaning and integrity.
Keep in mind that SEO is an ever-changing field, so it is important to pay attention to up-to-date information and the latest trends.
Conclusion
Try to use a target keywords every 100 words (or 10 times every 1,000 words), but never in ridiculous places at the expense of content quality and user experience.
Avoid keywords stuffing your writing; this will make your content appear maliciously written and will be penalized by Google (Search Engines)
Instead of choosing your secondary keywords from one-word keywords, opt for longer keywords with 2–3 parts.
Most importantly, find secondary keywords and variations that support your content and make the topic clearer.

Making AI write keywords…
Open any AI tool and after you have completed your blog post, paste it completely into the AI command line with “” between the two quotes.
Then type “generate 5 one-word keywords for me for this blog post” into the AI.
Then write “generate keywords”.
When I asked the AI for this post, it suggested me the following 5 keywords.
The primary keywords for my article are “Writing” and “Keywords”.
Secondary keywords are: “SEO” — “Search Engine Optimization” — “Topics”.
Now, if you want, take a quick look at which ones I used where and how many times in the article again.
